There is so much going on in the world and trying to find ways to cope is rough. Given the recent events leading up to the death of quite a few unarmed African Americans, the people are fed up. Protests are happening all over the place and one has to ask…are they even effective? Depending on how it’s happening, they just might be.
San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick took his disgust for recent events to the next level. He decided that he was not going to stand and honor the National Anthem because technically, it doesn’t apply to him. He explained that he is “not going to stand up and show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color.”
Colin K’s decision to kneel got both praise and criticism. He is backing up his words with actions and refuses to let up. Aside from kneeling, he plans on donating a million dollars to different organizations that support racial equality. He also donated $60,000 worth of book bags to students in the Bronx and Harlem. Being active in these communities is important to him and he plans on doing more than just donate.
