Women seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to securing jobs and equal wages. Despite that face, we are beginning to get the representation we’ve so long deserved. Our contributions to the progress of this country are solid. Earlier this year, it was announced that Harriet Tubman would be the face that graced the $20 bill. We are still waiting to see that come to fruition. In the meantime, we have something else to look forward to. The 2017 American Liberty 225th Anniversary Gold Coin will display the head and face of a variety of women.
The first coin displayed shows a Black woman with her braided hair pulled back into a neat bun. She is wearing a crown of stars and her facial features are clearly defined. The value of this limited edition coin is $100. It is set to be released by the United States Mint on April 6, 2017. The bi-annual series will continue, displaying a variety of Lady Liberty figures. The women will span a variety of cultures and races including Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, and Indian-Americans to name a few. The representation of different ethnicities and cultures is an accurate reflection of the different cultures and ethnicities that reside in the United States.
