BET has been on point with their selection of dramatical series. They recently delivered The New Edition story by way of a three part series. That series earned the network one of their highest ratings for a telecast in over five years. Over 29 million people tuned in and that number will certainly be higher. Their next endeavor is a TV drama series that’s been three years in the making.
Nas has been looking to bring ‘Street Dreams’ to life and BET is going to help make that happen. The autobiographical TV drama is slated to come to BET under the direction of Jonathan Levine. Levine directed ‘The Wackness’, which tells the story of New York City in the summer of ’94. Hip Hop was poppin’ at that moment and Levine accurately set the tone with his directorial skills. It will be interesting to see how he handles ‘Street Dreams’.
Nas made noise with his last visual, Time Is Illmatic, when it premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2014.
