J.Period Delivers The Soundtrack to Life With RISE UP: Music Inspired by America Divide

Music has been a comfort for as long as people can remember. People write, create, and listen to music when they are going through something and need a form of expression. Given recent times and the reality of current events, the arts have become an integral part of getting through it. Television, music, and film continue to deliver dope visuals to document the times. Songs have become the soundtrack to life and the messages are clear. When it comes to creating dope tracks, DJ/Producer J.Period can get the job done.

The talented producer teamed up with actor Jesse Williams, Posdenous, Pharoahe Monch, and legendary MC Black Thought to create a new soundtrack for the new tone of the times. The project features music and talents from a variety of other artists including Aloe Blacc, Eric Roberson, Stro Elliot, Daniel Crawford, Masego, Tall Black Guy, Dayne Jordan, Larrance Dobson, Maimouna Youssef, spoken word poet Mayda De Valle, visual artist Ernesto Yerena, and musicians from DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Playlist Retreat. The music for this project was inspired by the film, America Divided.

The first track, Miranda, features Rhymefest, XZibit, and Jesse Williams taking an in-depth verbal look at the state of out country as we know it. With a new President on deck, things are definitely different. With Joss Stone on the hook, this track delivers a strong message.
